Today, September 2nd, 2022 we celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Dedication of the TEMPLE of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in downtown Los Angeles. I do not think it is an accident that the Cathedral’s address is 555 W. TEMPLE St. As we celebrate the Mother Church of our Archdiocese, may we remember that we too are TEMPLES of the Holy Spirit. And as living stones, we together make up the church, the holy TEMPLE of God. As TEMPLES of the Lord, may we fulfill our mission to bring God’s presence to all we meet.

We are constantly being called to RETURN to the Lord and make Him the center and foundation of our lives. Doing so allows us to RETURN to our truest identity as beloved sons and daughters of God. All of the sacraments of the Church allow us in a deep and significant way to make this RETURN to the Lord and ourselves. May we encourage one another through prayer as we make a RETURN to our God on this faith journey.

As I RETURN back from my week of Priest Convocations with Archbishop Gomez, bishops, and priests of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, I am truly grateful for your prayers. It was a truly blessed time!

We have become a NEW creation in Christ. And He desires to make all things NEW. We are in a constant process of reNEWal in the Lord. He will call us out of our comfort zones into NEW realities for our continued growth in discipleship. May we stay open to God’s promptings and be courageous when God calls us to NEW things.

St. Finbar School will be starting a NEW school year this Wednesday. At this weekend’s Masses, I will be blessing all students in preparation for a NEW year of education, growth, and learning. Please invite and encourage all students to join us for Mass this weekend.
