Welcome to our blog.

As we enter into the Summer Months, God’s creation is coming fully ALIVE. All the flowers are in bloom, the fruits of the season are so sweet, and all those on vacation are ALIVE in joy. Today the Church celebrates the feast of St. Irenaeus (Bishop, Martyr, and Doctor of the Church) who famously said, “The glory of God is man fully ALIVE.” God desires for us to live an abundant life in HIs grace. We are not meant to only survive in life, but His glory is for us to be fully ALIVE in His love and mercy. At times we are tempted to despair or fall in to fear that blocks us from living our lives fully. May we entrust ourselves into the care of our Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, who gives us every grace we need to be fully ALIVE in the Lord.

*I will be away for a few weeks in July for Summer Break. Friday Finbar Updates will take a break for the month of July and will return in the month of August.

I read an internet meme once that said: “Never in the history of CALMING down has anyone CALMED down by being told to CALM down.” When we get desperate, it is really hard to find peace. In our Gospel this Sunday, Jesus CALMS the storm as well as brings CALM and peace to the hearts of the disciples in the boat with him. Jesus is the Prince of Peace. In him we find the true power and strength to weather the storms of our lives. Often times we are beset with concerns and anxieties. May we learn to fully surrender to God, to receive the CALM and peace he brings.
