As we prepare to celebrate Father’s Day this Sunday, may we give praise to God who is such a gracious, and PROVIDENT Father. He always PROVIDES for our needs and in His PROVIDENCE knows exactly what to give us at the right time. Our earthly fathers and father figures mirror God’s PROVIDENT nature working hard to PROVIDE for all the needs of a family. May we on this Father’s Day honor and celebrate all of our fathers living and deceased as well as our grandfathers, godfathers, step-fathers, and all who love us with PROVIDENT care.

Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Sacred HEART of Jesus. This particular Feast of the Church always reminds me that the HEART of our Catholic Christian faith is love: God’s love continually being poured out upon us as His children. Our human HEARTS are at times broken and wounded so they have the capacity to only love conditionally. But we are called to surrender our human HEARTS to God and in exchange receive the divine Sacred HEART of Jesus that gives us the capacity to love God, one another, and ourselves in the way that God loves us (unconditionally). May our HEARTS remain open to the love of God and in turn share that love with the whole world.
