As we prepare for the Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord this Sunday, and as we journey into this new year, God is inviting us to grow in wisdom and grace. God asks us to OBSERVE deeply the goings on of our life. In order to grow, we must be conscious of how we actually live our lives. For this consciousness to happen, we must OBSERVE our habits, OBSERVE our patterns, and OBSERVE our reactions to the events that occur in our life. We also must OBSERVE the ways in which the Holy Spirit is moving in our hearts and souls. Only by being OBSERVANT to our lives can any growth or change happen. Way we like the 3 Wise Men who made the journey to encounter the Lord Jesus in Bethlehem be truly wise by OBSERVING and being present to God’s movement in our lives and everything around us.

As we come to the final days of Advent and prepare for the birth of our Savior, we recall that God’s name is EMMANUEL, meaning God with us. God loves us so much that he enters our humanity to assure that he will be with us in all of our human experience. EMMANUEL assures us that we will never be abandoned or forsaken. May we continue to trust in God’s promise that he truly will be with us until the very end. May our hearts prepare room for EMMANUEL to be born anew!
